Phantoms of the Orchestra
A Message from the Steering Committee
The Phantoms of the Orchestra is a volunteer organization dedicated to the promotion and support of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. The Phantoms organization serves under the direction and with the support of the Symphony Board of Directors. Phantoms volunteers are involved in a variety of activities including promotion of the symphony, assisting in the Symphony Office, greeting and assisting at concerts, assisting at and sponsoring fundraising events and serving lunch to the musicians on rehearsal days.
The activities of the Phantoms are under the direction of the Phantoms Steering Committee, which is comprised of the elected officers and the chairs of all Standing Committees of the organization. The Phantoms Steering Committee meets monthly during the concert season at the Education Building of the Charlotte Community Foundation (227 Sullivan Street in Punta Gorda). Meetings are held at 9:45 A.M. the second Wednesday of each month. Anyone interested in supporting the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and becoming a Phantoms volunteer is welcome to attend the meetings.
There are annual fees due from Phantoms members. When you join the Phantoms for the first time you are assessed $50, and you will receive the new member’s shimmering scarf and membership badge. Each year thereafter, your assessment for renewal of your membership is $35. This $35 assessment, as well as $35 of your initial fee, goes entirely to the symphony to support its musicians and its programs. Dues for the Phantoms membership are due in May of each year, but may be paid at any time during that year. A membership form is available online:
Phantoms Membership Form, or you may phone the Symphony Office to use a credit card (Phone 941-205-5996). This form also allows members to indicate what their preferred volunteer work might be for the coming year.
At each concert, Phantoms volunteers greet concert goers and host a Phantoms table at which promotional materials about the Symphony and the Phantoms are available. Brochures with membership forms can be picked up there and dues can be paid at that time.
There are also Phantoms fundraising and social events held each season to encourage Phantoms participation and support of the Symphony. These events are open to Phantoms and friends, and will be posted on this website and in the new Phantoms newsletter that will be emailed to all Phantoms.
Please join us now and support our Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.
